Taurus New Moon + Solar Eclipse: Saying YES to a Blossoming New Path
The new lunar cycle begins on Saturday, April 30, 2022, at approximately 3:34pm (CST)
My loves—this weekend! In addition to the prime vibe that is the annual Taurus New Moon, we also have this year’s first eclipse (a partial solar eclipse) occurring with lunar nodes on the Taurus-Scorpio axis.
Before I get into allll the Astro significance of eclipses + lunar nodes, let’s highlight the main themes of a Taurus New Moon.
When a New Moon is with Fixed Earth Taurus, our bodies are invited to set the tone (for the new lunar cycle ahead) around the following:
Connecting to our unique expressions of our sensuality + sexuality—this “tone” is the essence of Taurus’s ruling planet, Venus.
Creating a practical plan/system for our dreams/goals—Taurus’s Earth element = the “hands-on” energy for our sense of self-worth.
Establishing physical regimens that can support optimal mind-body attunement—Taurus’s ‘fixed’ mode = habitual/routine for bodily nourishment.
Using our true voice, especially as it pertains to speaking to our sacred values—Taurus rules the throat, all the way to the diaphragm + pelvic floor—connecting us to our root chakra. Alignment with our root chakra reflects stability; how grounded we are in our sense of security.
The Moon does exceptionally well with the Divine Feminine energy of Taurus. All and all, the Taurus New Moon gently supports us with reacquainting to our bodies + what they’re craving to receive at this time for all-around nourishment.
This weekend will be so good for practicing intentionally engaging our physical senses with whatever we’re doing/experiencing/feeling. This sensual approach is wonderful for slowing down our inner pace and strengthens our body-mind-soul alignment.
Eclipses
Simply put, eclipses occur when the Earth, Moon, and Sun are all “lined up”.
When a solar eclipse occurs (like what we’re looking forward to this Saturday), it’s due to a complete or partial shadow over the Sun. This shadow is caused by the Moon passing between the Sun and the Earth—as outlined in the photo above.
On the other hand, when a lunar eclipse occurs (like what we’ll experience next month on the Scorpio Full Moon!), the Full Moon is overshadowed, which is caused by the Moon entering the shadow of the Earth.
Solar eclipses can only occur with New Moons, while lunar eclipses can only occur with Full Moons. More so, eclipse seasons last about a month-ish. What defines an eclipse “season” is when there are two eclipses (one solar, one lunar) occurring within that month-ish timeframe.
Each calendar year has a minimum of four eclipses/two eclipse seasons. Currently, we are in the midst of 2022’s first eclipse season, with the second season later in October-November.
Here’s a great breakdown on how the pattern of eclipse seasons unfold, annually.
Why are eclipses so significant, astrologically?
Because they historically correlate with remarkable beginnings and endings for our personal experiences here on the ground.
Solar eclipses are known for being portals for us to boldly walk a new life path, while lunar eclipses open the portal for notable closures. Similarly to how we honor setting new intentions on New Moons vs. releasing on Full Moons.
In the midst of this eclipse buzz, I specifically chose this breath-giving meditation for us to wrap our sensitive vessels around this weekend and into the early days of May.
The heightened energetic state during an eclipse season can intensely pulse through our bodies. It’s really important to be mindful of emotional + physical symptoms at this time—and to honor our bodies accordingly.
Lunar Nodes
Officially, the lunar nodes moved from the Gemini-Sagittarius axis to the Taurus-Scorpio axis in January. The Moon will orbit with the lunar nodes on the Taurus-Scorpio axis through July 2023.
Lunar nodes move (retrograde movement/“backwards”) axis points about every 18 months, making it about 18 years for them to move through the entire Zodiac.
Each turn that the north + south nodes have with each house in the Zodiac wheel uniquely invite us to deepen our Sacred Embodiment.
Here’s a great breakdown of what the north + south nodes each represent in Astrology—aka “the nodes of fate”.
Lunar Nodes on the Taurus-Scorpio Axis
We haven’t experienced an eclipse season with the nodes on the Taurus-Scorpio axis (Taurus on the north node-Scorpio on the south node) since 2004!
But first, I feel it’s worth recapping the 18 months we just recently experienced on the Gemini-Sagittarius axis. The main themes were all about: embracing new ways of thought-processing (Gemini) + liberating our Souls’ unique missions for the world (Sagittarius).
Think about it: May of 2020-December 2021 had all of us uniquely re-examining our communication styles, all the ways in which we learn (incl. what we were being asked to learn during this timeframe), and the beliefs we hold about ourselves in relation to our predominant environments.
So many changes, macro + micro, occurred when the nodes were embodying the distinctly powerful Gemini-Sagittarius axis. This was big cosmic stuff for humanity as we presently stand!
I gotta say though: I’ve been especially pumped for this timeframe with the lunar nodes on the Taurus-Scorpio axis. To me, Taurus energy is the prime Astro example of the word, Embodiment. And when the north node lines up in the house of Taurus, how we desire to value our sacred business + how we are nurturing our bodies in connection to our Mother Earth, are BIG themes.
At this time, if you’re feeling a deep pull from within to reconnect to your essential sense of worth, to sustain all-around nourishment for your body + your living environment—and all in connection with our miraculous planet? Then…
LEAN IN.
Are {you} ready to plant that garden you’ve been dreaming of? Are {you} ready to build more physical strength in your body? Are {you} ready to move with a more aligned pace for your life at this time? Are {you} ready to heal+enhance your relationship to money? Are {you} ready to reset your foundation of self-love, and therefore reset the foundations of your most important relationships?
Whatever it is for {you}, accept this cosmic invitation as a timely opportunity to deepen your Sacred Embodiment. The south node with Scorpio has our backs, pulling in absolute trust, truth, and transformation for our livelihoods + our relationships.
Overall, what will unfold for each of us over the course of this chapter on the Taurus-Scorpio axis will be purposeful for our body+mind+soul alignment!
Reminder: with integrity, I continue to express this Astro info from a broader stance, trusting that {you} discern what applies to your sacred experience. We each distinctly experience cosmic activity based on how our natal charts are lining up with the current sky-scape (did I just make up a word?) above.
If you have dominant Taurus or Scorpio placements in your natal chart, you’re likely to especially feel the influence of the lunar nodes residing on this axis through the first half of next year.
And lastly: if there’s one consistent truth that this ancient wisdom so generously reminds me of, again and again, it is that we are not here to compare our sacred journeys. We are all always connected in the big cosmic web—AND we are all always experiencing this soul-in-a-body ride from our own seats.
We are not required to fully understand one another in order to honor + value each other’s paths.
Additional aspects to note for this year’s Taurus New Moon:
Jupiter+Venus Conjunction in Pisces—the abundance of softness from this sweet conjunction can help alleviate some of intensity that the solar eclipse is bringing forth at this time. (thank gaahhhd)
Uranus in Taurus—the planet of awakening will be much more active as the Moon+Sun conjoin this Saturday, reminding us to continue to deepen/reconnect our bodily relationship to our Mother, planet Earth. Our bodies, and how we treat them, are not separate from Gaia. We are nature; an extension of her. We are a divine reflection of soil+stars. I urge us all to immensely honor this sacred truth as we navigate creating more equilibrium + healing for our Divine Feminine + Divine Masculine energies.
Taurus New Moon Ritual
Due to the power of the solar eclipse, I’m not outlining an intuitive ritual for this New Moon. Rather, I lovingly encourage {you} to practice purely trusting your body’s wise guidance for expansive nourishment over the next handful of days.
Again, New Moon Eclipses have great potential to be purposefully uncomfortable as new beginnings emerge. Emphasizing ease + joy + rest as much as possible through the remainder of this week and into the next will be key.
This medicine-for-the-soul Trevor Hall album + the following Sarah Blondin meditation will both provide beautiful refuge if you need.
As always, I wholeheartedly express so much gratitude to you all for receiving from me here.
Many, many New Moon+Solar Eclipse Blessings—I love {you}!
🧡, a.
