Scorpio Season: Embody the Magnitude of Your Power to Transform [October 23-November 21]
8th House/Fixed Mode/Water Element/Ruled by Mars + Pluto
Welcome back around to the bewildering Sun season that is SCORPIO, dear ones. And many solar return blessings to all the Scorpion-Sun-Beings!
Let’s get right to it and dive down to the depths, for we’ve got a lot to cover at this time: embodying the Divine Feminine Scorpio Sun, eclipse season, the magic of this year’s Scorpio New Moon/partial solar eclipse (comin’ right up after this post), and the planetary movement overall for the next month ahead. Yowza!
Co-ruled by Mars (planet of action) + Pluto (planet of transformation), the Fixed Water Scorpio Sun is an intense, yet magical, season each year. Why? Because the essence of this house is all about actively allowing outgrowth of all kinds to die in order for new growth to be born.
[Fixed Mode = focused; habitual; stabilizing; middle of cyclical season + Water Element = imaginative; intuitive; psychic; sensitive→ creating Scorpio, the 8th house of Death, Rebirth, and Sex]
Scorpio’s focused vibration is the snake deliberately shedding its skin after a growth spurt. It’s the Phoenix powerfully rising from the ashes of pain. Mmmmmmm such processes can feel so utterly cryptic, provocative, and relentless.
More importantly, though—such processes of our own are necessary for our ever unfolding journeys. Parts of us are always changing, evolving, shedding, shifting, and transforming.
It is the house of Scorpio that keenly reminds us to allow complexity, mystery, and secrets to be what they are: opportunities to swim in the alluring deep end of metamorphosis.
It is this investigative light that pierces right through to the truth. Furthermore, Scorpio Suns are poignant examples of why our personal transformations demand that we explore the darker parts of ourselves, for it is our emotional underworlds that purposefully teach us to be more alive, more embodied, more true.
The embodied Scorpio is particularly self-sufficient as well, but in a way that inspires others to join them; a strength that they harness for their intense nature. I personally appreciate how the energy of Scorpio has little tolerance for the shallow end of life. Thank you so much for your distinct devotion to the emotional depths of this human experience, Scorpio-Sun-Beings!
Similar to fellow Water sign, protective + sensitive Cancer Crab, the shadow side of the Scorpion believes it is not safe to let their guard down; that it’s not safe to cease abundant suspicions. As a fixed house, Scorpio’s shadow tends to routinely resist allowing the gifts that true vulnerability give to our human experiences. Such disconnection from the self is always revealing a need to be more aligned with truth. For Scorpios uniquely, disconnection can result in behaviors that are controlling, possessive, and ripe with jealously. It is key to return to what they deeply value + respect most—and that is sacred intimacy with themselves + with their most trusted relationships.
[Note: our human shadow behaviors + emotions are normal. I do not outline these parts of ourselves in the name of demonization, but for dismantling the shame + stigma that’s been built around them for too long.]
Indeed, if any Zodiac sign understands this immensely, it is Scorpio: true intimacy strips away our fears + illusions for the benefit of supreme Sacred Embodiment. Therefore, Scorpio’s shadow is invited to practice not reactively tearin’ everything down to the ground from fearful, overly distrustful positions. Rather, to keep coming back to what you innately bring to the table so beautifully, dearest Scorpios. And that is, being confidently clear when you need to take your sacred moments to investigate your internal landscape that allow you to shed your outgrowth, so you can keep returning to the fullness of your life + relationships as your whole self; your dark integrated with your light.
Emotional + Physical Self-Care for Scorpio / Scorpio Season
Jennifer Racioppi of Cosmic Health describes Scorpio as, “the natural introvert of the Zodiac”—intentional, regularly scheduled doses of sacred solitude is one of Scorpio’s main self-care practices for self-restoration. After all, solitude is a most generous gift of reconnection to deeper self-awareness and self-compassion. Remember, sacred solitude is very different than habitually avoiding/running from life’s contrast.
Scorpio rules the pelvic region—connection to sexual vitality + consistent practices that support the root chakra are a big part of Scorpio’s physical wellbeing. A healthy sex life (incl. self-pleasure), in addition to a grounded root chakra, both contribute to intact authentic expression.
Spiritual practices that support the transmutation of secrets, shame, and stifling emotions into wise resilience—spirituality in and of itself is so beautifully diverse in how it can be what we each make of/need it to be, season to season. For many, it is simply connecting to nature, every day. The point is, there is no one way to “be spiritual”. I personally frame spirituality as, the endless practice of embodying our full human experience.
Water signs especially require commitment to honoring their boundaries, emotionally + energetically—it is a strength to be a highly sensitive vessel in this world. And, it can be all-consuming with enmeshment if/when internal awareness is lacking. To avoid constant states of being flooded + resentful, the practice here is to accept that we all have to consistently self-advocate as needed, especially if we desire healthy changes to occur. This is true personal accountability.
[Reminder: the emotional + physical self-care applies to all of us during each Sun season. Scorpio Moons + Scorpio Risings are especially pulled into the Scorpio Sun season.]
The following is the upcoming cosmic calendar for this year’s Scorpio season / heading into this year’s Sagittarius season:
Eclipse season is now underway through November—the second eclipse season of 2022 with the lunar nodes on the Taurus-Scorpio axis will likely intensify the discomfort + sensitivity of our personal transformations during this year’s Scorpio Sun season. I shared at length on the Astro significance of eclipses + lunar nodes in this post during this year’s first eclipse season in the Spring. It’s worth revisiting that post if you genuinely desire to actively apply cosmic wisdom within daily life.
Venus transit Scorpio on October 23-November 15—Venus + Sun are both entering Scorpio together this year! This alignment has great potential of enhancing our passionate desires to feel more connected to Divine Feminine energy. May we allow our bodies to happily accept, for this will be soooo juicy for true vulnerability within our most sacred + trustworthy relationships. Furthermore, no territory is too taboo for us to explore when Venus dances with Scorpio. This transit will pull in exceptional depth of emotion + intimacy for our endeavors as well as our relational lives. We’ll need to be mindful of urges to act from possessive and/or suspicious positions throughout this transit.
Scorpio New Moon + Partial Solar Eclipse on October 25—STAY TUNED.
Jupiter transit Pisces October 28-December 20—the planet of good fortune has been with Aries since July, but as Jupiter moves back into Pisces he will remain retrograde until November 23. As an outer planet, there’s not much to fret about here. Essentially, because retrograde periods are a time for pause + reflection, this Jupiter-Pisces vibe is for acknowledging our own spiritual growth this year; for reflecting on how we are continuing to open our hearts to the mystery of this ever-changing human experience.
Mercury transit Scorpio on October 29-November 16—whew the Scorpio vibes are really going to be front + center for these next weeks ahead. When the planet of communication moves through Scorpio, we’re invited to lean into those complex convos with others. Our thought processing tends to be more thorough here as well. Overall, this is a very serious alignment that we get to utilize to strengthen our mind-body connection. We’ll need to be mindful of paranoias that creep up, urging us to suspect that nearly everything is unreliable. Please do not dismiss the seemingly subtle power of grounding practices, like daily walking + going to bed earlier, that help alleviate the mess of our minds.
Mars retrograde in Gemini on October 30-January 12, 2023—because there’s a substantial amount to cover for Mars’ major transit of 2022, I’m attaching helpful info from seasoned Astro experts. Again, if you’re serious about harnessing Astro awareness for your benefit, then I highly encourage you to check out the following regarding Mars’ current transit in the house of communication: 1. 2. 3.
Taurus Full Moon + Total Lunar Eclipse on November 8—the annual Taurus Full Moon pulls out our most ripened embodiment of body-mind-soul! I just can’t help but declare that, this is the Full Moon to sensually surrender ourselves to like no other. The Scorpio-Taurus axis will be illuminated, begging us to receive pure pleasure to the max. Plus, the effect of the total lunar eclipse on this year’s Taurus Full Moon will intensify themes of completion and/or a change in course. Big, deep breaths. I’ll be back with a more thorough share on this big Moon.
Venus transit Sagittarius on November 16-December 9—joyful exploration of our love lives, comin’ up to lighten things up! When Venus dances with Sagittarius, we are invited to embrace more adventure + freedom with our bodies, relationships, and values. Receive this more easeful alignment and HAVE SOME FUN. This Venus-Sag vibe could be quite refreshing after swimming in the depths of Scorpio season. We’ll need to be mindful of our arrogance and/or being too blunt when expressing our true feelings during this transit.
For our Sacred Embodiment of body+mind+soul alignment, may we wrap our vessels all the way around the gifts of the transmuting Sun that is Scorpio.
I dare {you} to
I dare you to look
I dare you to really examine your deep ends
I dare you to let your body receive rest, nourishment, and unabashed pleasure
I dare you to allow your next metamorphosis to unleash your shame
I dare you to honor your deepest of truths, including the truths of your own darkness
I dare you to profoundly love + trust all that you find within the depths of your miraculous vessel
All and all, may we receive the Scorpio light for the empowerment of / reconnecting to the ultimate truth of our Soul’s stance. What does that mean for {you} at this time?
Many, many blessings to you all throughout this powerful season!
🧡, a.
