Taurus Full Moon + Total Lunar Eclipse: Grounding Ourselves With Pleasure as Inevitable Changes Continue to Change Us, Too
The Full Moon Total Lunar Eclipse climaxes on Tuesday, November 8, at approximately 4:58am (CST)
Whew. Welcome to the finale of 2022’s eclipses!
Over the past couple weeks, our vessels have been palpably impacted as the Scorpion Sun continues to investigate our deep emotional waters alongside the current eclipse season, influencing abrupt turbulence on our courses. The current potent cosmic plate overall has heightened a much more sensitive state for our emotional bodies + our physical bodies are experiencing more fatigue as well.
Many of us feel like we are hangin’ on by a thread.
Thankfully, this year’s annual earthy ‘n sturdy Taurus Full Moon is here to remind us to greatly value what we can depend on as we navigate change: the abundance within our sacred practices of grounding ourselves in deep sensatory awareness + pleasure.
Mmmmmm yesss pleeeeaassse.
The Moon quite grandly exudes a rooted sense of tranquility when she’s moving through the 2nd house of Value that is Taurus, as this is one of her more favored houses to be with. But also, similar to last year’s Taurus Full Moon, this one is enhanced by a total lunar eclipse with the lunar nodes on the Taurus-Scorpio axis.
In other words, this is a remarkable point of change for each of us uniquely if we are paying attention to + trusting how our lives are purposefully transforming at this time.
Total lunar eclipses are known for bringing forth notable endings. And not to be utterly alarmed by this, for endings come in many shapes + sizes (so to speak) when we are actively releasing chapters that we intuitively know are at their timely end for our personal journeys.
Still, even though the more expedited process of eclipses can provide great relief after all is said and done, is it always easy to embrace? Ha, no.
Compared to standard Full Moons, there’s a higher level of intensity present when culminations occur around/on a total lunar eclipse. Right now, we’re being sharply reminded to hold on dearly to what matters most in the midst of an eclipse season: the strengthening of our alignment of body, mind, and soul. [Scared Embodiment]
“Andrea, what does that even mean? … alignment of body, mind, and soul?”
It means that we’re actively practicing leading our lives with clear inner discernment amidst the constant chaos; that we’re much less concerned with “keepin’ up with Jones’s” and much more full of our soul’s expression to be all in with this earthly experience; that we’re honoring the ebb + flow of our bodies with intentional movement and intentional rest; that we’re being much more honest with ourselves about our shadow sides by bringing loving awareness to the parts of ourselves that we dismiss/ignore/shame; all so that we are more able to sincerely show up to our lives + relationships from stances of deep admiration + truth; and as our imperfectly superb selves.
AMEN.
As the Moon is now in the house of Taurus, the Scorpio-Taurus axis is activated along with the north node in Taurus. For the next few days, we are being invited to, once again, more widely trust the process of letting go of outgrown beliefs, habits, perspectives, resentments—whatever it is that we’re personally ready to experience closure with.
The main themes of the annual Taurus Full Moon / Scorpio-Taurus axis:
Total embodiment of our sensuality + sexuality—the essence of Taurus is all about habitually engaging with life through the value of our sensual expressions. More so, a Taurus Moon so generously encourages us to slow way down and allow our physical senses to connect us even more to the wisdom of our whole emotional bodies. Scorpio rules the pelvic system/root chakra, enhancing our wellness needs for sexual pleasure on a Taurus Full Moon. On this distinctly powerful Full Moon that’s being impacted by the eclipse, may we bring grateful awareness to all that we’re hearing, seeing, smelling, tasting, and/or touching. May we be present with the pure + simple pleasures that our unique physical senses gift us as we integrate with the discomforts of changes that we’re experiencing right now.
Polarity of security (Taurus) + risk (Scorpio)—Taurus seeks to establish habits of dependability, while Scorpio seeks to engage with habits of risk-taking. As both are Fixed houses, they each routinely focus like so in the name of creating an intact relationship to autonomy. Neither approach of safety + risk is better nor worse, right nor wrong. Both approaches have their place and we get to embody their cosmic teachings for our journeys accordingly. In the shadow, both are distinctly fearful of vulnerability. In attempt to control life’s contrast/avoid discomfort, Taurus places an overstated focus on a false sense of security and Scorpio stings with overreactive risk-taking. Can we see how security and risk-taking can both either give the same results of love or the same results of fear? How are these themes of security vs. risk showing up in your life at this time?
Additional aspects of the total lunar eclipse with the lunar nodes on the Taurus-Scorpio axis:
Uranus conjunction w/ the Moon—the Taurus Full Moon will form an exact conjunction with the eccentric rebel of the stars during the eclipse. Also known as the planet of awakening, Uranus is front ‘n center on this Full Moon, inspiring us to surrender self-limitations + habits of self-punishment. Uranus is currently retrograde in Taurus as well, pressing even more internal focus on, “be the change you wish to see in the world” energy.
Saturn in Aquarius square to the Moon—this square was an aspect to the Scorpio Full Moon eclipse back in May as well. Therefore it could be resurfacing some themes regarding the hard work it takes to foster sound personal accountability with our emotional health. Squares are challenging + Saturn is strict, but we can let this aspect purposefully teach us to build even more genuine accountability to our own boundaries, emotional triggers, habits, and needs—all in the name of co-creating a loving ripple effect into the world (Aquarius’s influence on preservation of common good of community!).
Mercury + Venus in Scorpio—the depth of communication + connection happenin’ right now with these planets in Scorpio, along with the Sun, is FIERCE. This is not the time to be afraid of nor dismiss our emotional triggers nor the truth. Instead, practice allowing both to help us unite our wounds with our innate wisdom. May we tap into our empowered dark feminine expressions of being so unapologetically magnetic + passionate to support us as we continue to bridge any gaps between our mind, body, and spirit.
Mars retrograde in Gemini—when the planet of action is retrograde, frustrations can be intensified. Also, Mars moving backwards in Gemini can feel strangely similar to Mercury retrograde. To sum it up, we’re broadly being challenged by our verbal (Gem) impulses here. [I have been really struggling in this regard, damn.] With cosmic awareness, we can practice consciously pausing more (lots more) to reflect on what is motivating (Mars) us right now—especially if our communication styles are on the struggle bus. We can also continue to ask throughout this retrograde: How/what do I want to invest my energy + time into that co-creates all-around positive influence? In what areas of my life are ongoing power struggles? What are these dynamics attempting to teach me?
All and all, the lunar nodes on the Taurus-Scorpio axis have all of us, in some way, shape, or form, realigning with truth, redefining our values, examining our self-worth (especially within partnerships), and purposefully allowing emotional, physical, relational, and spiritual outgrowth to die. The north node in Taurus inspires us to develop + value the commitment to great inner strength, while the south node in Scorpio is reminding us to radically trust the process of our metamorphosis.
We are indeed developing a newfound relationship with trust right now, most of all with the relationship of trusting ourselves, first and foremost. If we’re really leaning in, albeit with our doubts louder than ever, we’re going to reap the benefits of walking through the transitional darkness to emerge even brighter.
Total Lunar Eclipse Ritual
DANCE. CRY. MAKE LOVE. LAUGH. LOG OFF. LOVINGLY SPEAK TO THE TRUTH. NOURISH. PLAY. REST. RELEASE.
REPEAT.
Here’s a sexy AF playlist for your miraculous vessels to wrap around. This is one my favorite mixes that I created in 2021—you can find it here, too.
